Goodbye Summer

I've been in denial. Denial that summer is over. Even though school started and we officially reached the first day of fall. Summer has become fun again! When I was a kid summer was great. There was no school, no work just play time and vacations. After college and getting a real job, the summer, along with all the other season's just blended together. All I ever saw of them was when I was going from my car to the office or a site visit. There was no summer break. Now that the kids are older and in school, summer is starting to feel like SUMMER again! So I was in denial. But its October now, the weather has gotten much colder and I'm excepting the fact that summer is over.

Goodbye summer...

goodbye popsicles on the porch...

goodbye enjoying lunch outside in the sunshine...

goodbye trips to the zoo...

goodbye naked babies in the pool...

...and big boys in the pool...

goodbye sprinkler...

goodbye eating watermelon outside...

goodbye rides at the fair...

and goodbye camping.

But, all is not lost...

Hello trips to the pumpkin patch and the Christmas tree farm...
hello extra blankets on the beds...
hello blankets on the couch for snuggling...
hello space heaters in the bedrooms...
hello fall decorations and Halloween costumes...
hello staying home in our sweats and playing games...
hello raking up millions of leaves from the yard...
hello hats, coats and gloves...
hello socks and slippers...
hello rain...
hello hibernating all winter to emerge in the spring to see how much all the neighbor kids have grown.

I'm ready.

Bring It!

I think I am ready too for fall, to slow down and catch up on the inside activities. There is definitely crisp in the air. Mom
