Proud Mama

I can hardly believe that my Kevin will be 6 in just a little over two months! Six sounds so much older then five. He is such a great big brother. He is always giving his brothers love and encouragement (that is, when he is not fighting over toys with them). He is a great example for his younger brothers. He is so smart and likes to follow the rules and gets frustrated when other people don't. Especially if he is the one who made up the rules. Just last night we played a game that he made up. Whoever gave 10 compliments (to someone in our family) their prize was they got to snuggle him! One minute for ever compliment :) He loves to make people happy and feels bad he knows he has done something wrong are hurts someone.

Kevin has been doing great in school and best of all he loves it! He is in the top reading group right now and recently his teacher said she was thinking of putting him in the group just below his because he was getting a little frustrated that he wasn't reading as fast as some of the others and was doing a lot of guessing instead of "reading." I told Kevin about the possible upcoming change and he was pretty upset. He has never liked change (he must be his mothers son). So we told him he would need to start practicing more at home if he wanted to stay in that group. His teacher also let him bring home a copy of the book they were working on. Ever since then he has been practicing his reading everyday. So today when he brought home this:

...we were so proud! He loves to learn and he loves to lead. I think this boy has a bright future ahead of him. I hope his love for school will last for years to come. He even loves to "play" school on the weekends. Now that he has been reading more he is really getting a lot of use out of the wonderful reading books we received from my Aunt Glenda (she is a retired school teacher). Thank you so much! He is working his way through all the level 1 books right now.

Go Kevin Go!

Go Kevin!! I hope all of our kids love school and love to learn. I might have to borrow those reading books for Titus. I can't believe Titus will be 5....we sure have to cherish everyday, they will be adults before we know it.
