An Anniversary

1993

Today marks 16 years since Jeremy and I had our first date- November 13, 1993. 16 years. It sounds like such a long time, but not long at all when you think of the lifetime we have left to spend together.

I remember it clearly. He was a senior (17), I was a junior (one month shy of turning 17) going to the same highschool. He was a wrestler, I was a cheerleader. He said it was love at first sight when he saw me cheering at a football game. It was that night that we met for the first time. We had also been to middle school together but did not know eachother. He discovered that he had been growing up next door to my cousins since he was little and thought for sure they must have my telephone number! I remember him calling me, but I don't remember exactly how he asked me out.

Our first date he picked me up in his mothers maroon minivan. When I got to the van I soon realized that three of his cousins would be joining us! On our first date. Seriously. We all went to ice cream at Baskin & Robins. We had mint chocolate chip in a dish. Then for some reason we had to go back to his house to figure out when the movie times were. So that meant I was also going to be meeting his parents. On our first date. Seriously. I don't think he thought anything of it. Some things never change. :)

We saw 'The Three Musketeers.' I wore jeans, a striped shirt, a denim jacket and hiking boots. He drove me home. No kiss goodnight. Our first kiss was not until a month later.

The rest is history.

Thank you for calling me honey and never giving up!

I love you.
